You probably have lots of pre-trip questions about our fishing charter boat trips and hopefully this FAQ will answer most of them, and what to expect if you are considering one our guided charter boat fishing trips, sea kayaking, or bear viewing adventures.
Beside the halibut and salmon fishing trips, we work with a number of other hotels, lodges and tours that are included in our custom Alaska tour packages. Fishing in Alaska with K-Bay Charters
- Who needs an Alaska fishing license?
Any adult over the age of 15.
- What happens if the seas are too rough to go fishing?
First we will attempt to reschedule your charter. Otherwise, you
will receive a complete refund. The other option is that we
would try to schedule you for fresh water fishing instead that
day.
- When is the best time to fish?
We fish May - September with the best months typically being
June, July, and August.
- What do I do with my fish?
Fillet of your fish is included in the charter price. We also
offer on site commercial vacuum packing and freezing. We also
offer door to door Fed Ex shipping and we have fish shipping
boxes in stock.
- What are the daily or seasonal catch limits?
Halibut - 2 per day. King Salmon - 1 per day. Silver Salmon - 2
or 3 per day. Bass - 5 per day. Ling Cod - 2 per day.
- What is the average size halibut?
Twenty pound average with much larger fish commonly taken.
- What is a ling cod?
A large member of the Greenling family of Rockfish.
- Will I get seasick?
Whether or not you will get seasick depends upon the individual
and sea conditions. Therefore, we have no way of predicting who
will or will not get seasick. There are various remedies for
seasickness. If you are susceptible to seasickness you may want
to consider investigating one or more of these remedies.
- What's not included in the packages?
Airfare, rental car, dinner, tipping and FedEx shipping charges
if you do not carry your fish home.
- Do you offer military or senior citizen discounts?
Yes. We offer a 10% military discount and we have a special
senior citizen discount package.
- Does K-Bay Charters offer group discounts and private trip?
Yes.

- What kind of deposit is required and when is the final payment due?
50% deposit due within 30 days of making reservation.
Balance due at check-in.
- Is it appropriate to tip the guides?
Yes, if you feel they have done a good job. If not, please let
us know.
- Should I buy travel insurance?
This is a matter of personal choice.
